Natural soap

Natural soaps are made from herbs and other natural ingredients and besides being good for cleaning, they also have good skin care properties. Natural soaps are best for sensitive skin because they are mildest form of soap available. Natural soaps are also good for people who suffer from acne and other skin problems.

To make natural soap all you need is lye, water, and some fat or oil. If you wish for something more than just a basic compound that chemically qualifies as soap then you will also wish to add color and scent oils. Though some people prefer to use distilled water or rainwater when making soap but if you wish you can also use simple tap water in your soap.

You can use just about any sort of oil or fat to make soap like oil from plants, animal fat, and hydrogenated fat. However, you will discover that different oils create different properties in natural soap. Coconut oil, for example, helps the soap create a rich lather. Olive oil creates fine and silky bubbles that have a soothing effect on the skin. Animal fats lead to a denser bar of soap.

Making your own natural soap is quite rewarding. You will be extremely satisfied because you know exactly what is there in you soap that makes it so special. The two basic different ways are the cold process that does not use heat and its opposite, where you have to boil soap compound. You have to decide which way you intend to go as both processes their own raw materials.

Once you have settled on the process you need to make a list of all the ingredients you are going to use for making natural soap. Make sure all ingredients are ready and handy before you start. If you forget something then you might have to start from scratch, not a very inviting idea. Write down the list of things you will need instead of keeping them in your head. Use that list as a checklist to make sure you do not miss anything. There is no scope for stopping in the middle of the process to get something crucial. Get everything beforehand if you wish to avoid being disappointed.
